Lead

The principal consumption of lead is for lead-acid batteries which are used in vehicles, and in industrial batteries. Lead is also used in load levelling systems as well as in compounds in the glass and plastics industries.
Lead is classified in two categories, Primary and Secondary Lead.

Primary Lead - Production of refined lead and refined lead alloys from concentrates, bullion and other primary materials.
Secondary Lead - Production of refined lead and refined lead alloys from scrap materials (lead acid batteries, lead sheet, strip, pipes, cable sheathing, etc.) together with residues, drosses, wastes, etc. from fabricating/processing operations.
